“ Not gonna lie, I'm still not 100% over my favorite taco place closing down last month. That being said, this will be my first time since then that I am going to a taco joint (I'm not counting Taco Bell). Moreover, I have been meaning to come here on a visit myself for a little while now, so here I am finally biting the bullet. On Yelp, this is apparently rated a top taco eatery in the entire state, and it is recognized nationwide in a list of best taco eateries. So needless to say, a lot is being put to the test today. To test them out, I am going to go with a favorite from where I used to eat tacos, and the thing I was going to try from them next. Thus, we arrive at the birria tacos and a pack of six churros for my order. Before I get to the food, let me write down a few things about the place itself and how things work. There is a very Mexican vibe inside that is quite festive and gives this place life if you are eating inside. I probably would have lived to come in during the summer months. One of my favorite pieces of decoration is the pepper plushie that hides behind the ATM. I think it looks really cute and quite cool. When you order, you are given a pager that will go off when your order is ready. I am honestly a huge fan of this system because I like to be able to get an alert for when my food is ready without running up the phone bill. It kind of reminds me of the old Panera Bread days where you would get a pager from them and it would beep and vibrate when your food was ready. The employees there are pretty friendly too, so they help this place worth coming to. When my food got in, I got a chance to try some of this hot and fresh. These churros are still really good, but I think it would go a little better with a dipping sauce. Think a chocolate or caramel dipping sauce. That's really the only significant way to improve on them. As for the birria, I have actually never had them before. Whenever I get tacos, I tend to be a bit more of a hard shell, put my own toppings on kind of guy. Crunch wraps are also a great pleasure in taco joints. But I have seen how others have eaten birria tacos via YouTube. So I started out by trying the taco out by itself. The meat is tender, juicy, and delicious. If you've ever had pork roast, this taco reminds me a bit of that. The dipping sauce elevates the tacos and it tastes even juicier than before! So well done with the food! Now I arrive at my one gripe I have and why I can only give this 4 stars and not 5. This place is cash only! No debits, no Apple Pay. Just cash to pay. Now, there are some instances where a cash-only establishment can get 5 stars from me, but it is very hard for me to do. This is because when I use cash, I have to use it for other things in my life, and because of that, any joint where I have to use cash as the only method of payment can make it very hard for me to come back to. If not for that, I would absolutely come here more often. But even with that out of the way, these tacos are definitely worth trying out and worth the hype. ”
“ definitivamente!! definitely!!! recommend to allll taco lovers !!! i always order the birria tacos and they do not disappoint!!! always get the green spicy and red spicy sauce! 100% always go here ! service is amazing! very friendly and loving ! love love love!!! always cleaned and restocked inside! ”
“ This is weird. It popped up in my list of reviews but i have not been there. Can't seem to remove it either. It just sat there blank n ”
“ Food and drinks are great here- highly suggest shrimp tacos, tacos de birra, and flautas with cilantro or habanero sauce. The vibe is always lively and welcoming to trying new things. ”
“ By far the best Mexican spot in the area! I love their chorizo bowl. Their sauces make everything phenomenal! My favorite is their chipotle. Fresh pico/sauce bar is awesome. Guacamole is always flavorful. Also, if you're doing low-carb they are more than happy to make any modifications. I often order a burrito bowl with no rice or beans and add lettuce. Always super consistent! I think you can call in orders- if you're in a rush I suggest doing that as it does take a little while but is definitely worth the wait. The salsa bar is in an A/C building with seating so the wait is comfortable! ”
“ Best tacos in CT or in general idc what anyone's says ! I've gone to a lot of taco trucks all around ct even been to Mexico Cancun & Tulum, when I tell you once I came back into the states I went straight here. Never disappoints and crazy how it's better than authentic Mexico tacos FROM Mexico ”
“ Los Garcia has some of the best Mexican food in the area. A casual roadside spot for quick eats. Their recently added birria tacos are amazing. Their nachos, quesadillas, and churros are also great options. I have been going semi-regularly for years and they have made some huge improvement in organization over the last couple of years. The main truck is open for walk up orders, and the truck off to the right is open on weekends for pick ups for phone orders. This helps manage foot traffic and ensures a smooth pick up experience. There are a few tables for outdoor seating, and a quaint indoor eating area if you want to grab a table and add some sauces or toppings to your tacos. I highly recommend their cilantro sauce if you like a bit of a spicy kick. I will say the parking lot is very small, and if you're going at peak time around dinner, a parking spot can be hard to come by. It's located directly behind the Waterbury mall which isn't a prime location. Location aside, it's worth a stop to the Waterbury area if you're passing through! ”
“ Still reliably delicious. I don't love the floral note in the horchata now, but I do love the massive nachos and how killer their steak is. Still a 10/10. Also good to note the patio is open for seating now. ”
